Wedding makeup: 6 trends you’ll love for 2017

by | 15 July 2017 | Hair & Beauty

We’ve been lapping up all the beauty trends from fashion week to bridal week, and after scouring the catwalks and showcases we’ve put together a list of top wedding makeup trends for 2017. So if you’re getting married this season, walk this way for plenty of beauty inspo for the big day.

1. A hint of pink

The fashionistas are calling it ‘millennial pink’ and it is definitely the shade of the season. Channel the trend with soft rosy eye shadows or floral pinky lips. Stick to subtle shades to keep things sophisticated.

2. Pearlescent

Get that wedding day glow with some of the season’s favourite pearly products. Highlighter works wonders on the cheekbones, while pearlescent eyeshadows will really make your eyes pop. Use shimmer dust to highlight your face, dab it along the brow bone, cheeks and forehead for an illuminating finish.

3. Kissable lips

Sumptuous, berry lips are back for 2017. Make a statement with dark matte lipstick, not only will it stay in place longer but it’ll stay show-stopping for all your photos. Keep the rest of your makeup simple to balance the look.

4. Au naturel

Designers were ditching the made-over look this season, as natural, tousled hair was complemented by bare faced beauty. Opt for makeup that looks as natural as possible and highlights your best features. Think fresh, dewy skin, which you can achieve with tinted moisturiser or light foundation, a light creme blush and nude lips.

5. Glossy lips

Glossy lips are also a fave for 2017. They complement the natural makeup look, while giving you an extra special finishing touch. Prep your lips with a sugar scrub the week before the wedding to keep them healthy and primed, and add a dab of lip stain underneath the gloss if you want a bit of colour.

6. Fluttery lashes

If you’re not feeling the au natural makeup look, it’s time to plump up the volume and give your lashes some wow factor. Achieve the classic wide-eyed look with false individual lashes, or treat yourself to some salon extensions. Add a big swipe of black eyeliner for a retro finish.

We hope we’ve given you plenty of inspiration when it comes to choosing your makeup for the big day. Have you got any favourites we’ve missed? Or perhaps you have a question for our resident fashion and beauty expert? Ask away in the comments box below…
