Unique Wedding Destinations in South America (5/6)
If there is one continent on the planet that muscles out Asia as the darkest and most mysterious, it has to be South America. We all hear stories about bad South America can be, but what we don’t hear is just how beautiful and romantic it is. With Latino passion and unexpected beauty at every turn, South America is pushing the boundaries of exceptional and extreme wedding locations.
Introducing South America
If you’re worried about safety in Central and South America, that is perfectly understandable. One way to ensure you enjoy a wedding in an excellent location, such as the Caribbean, is to enjoy one of the many resorts that keep you largely isolated from the more dangerous areas of the islands.
This isn’t to say that you can’t enjoy the culture and history of the location, especially with St. Lucia’s pirate-themed weddings where you are taken out on an old ship and get to immerse yourself in the Caribbean ambiance.
I mentioned treehouse weddings back in my blog about British venues, but the La Montana Magica Lodge puts those to shame. Shaped like a volcano, the hotel can be found in the middle of a UNESCO protected forest in Chile. It is truly a site to be seen, and it would be the perfect location for a beautifully unique wedding.
We have plenty of ancient artefacts in Europe, but there’s always something special about visiting them in other regions of the world. There is something particularly appealing about the late races of Latin America. Perhaps it is their mystery and isolation, but whatever it is, they make memorable visits. Why not make them more memorable by getting married at one?
Chichen Itza in Mexico, a Mayan site, and Machu Picchu in Peru, an Incan site, are both available for wedding ceremonies and are both in off-the-beaten-track locations with beautiful surroundings.
If huge landmarks like Chichen Itza and Machu Picchu aren’t iconic enough for you, there is one place in South America which will eclipse them both. Way up on Mount Corcovado overlooking the stunning city of Rio de Janeiro and the Copacabana and Ipanema beaches is, of course, Christ the Redeemer.
Here you can be married under the watchful eyes of Jesus in a location which puts even the most illustrious cathedral to shame.
